Latest war in Ukraine: US embassy in kyiv closes after ‘specific’ threat; Biden approves use of US antipersonnel mines | World News

A Ukrainian MP has revealed she keeps a backpack full of items at home in case of a Russian nuclear attack.

Kira Rudik told Sky’s Kay Burley that many Ukrainians are hoarding similar emergency supplies because “we’ve been afraid of nuclear escalation since day one.”

She said her supplies included canned food, water, gloves, socks and a mask.

Rudik, however, said Putin’s latest nuclear alert was more of a message to the West than to Ukraine.

She also spoke of “constant” air attacks on kyiv, saying she cannot remember a night in the past two weeks when she did not need to go to an air raid shelter.

The MP said she told her family to stay in a parking lot all day today because she was “really worried” about another attack.

“It’s so scary not knowing if your army has enough ammunition to shoot down all the missiles,” she said.

“We are very grateful for all the support we receive, but we also always know that it is not enough.”

When asked if Ukraine was losing the war, she replied: “No, it is not.”

She said there have been “many times where the world hasn’t believed in us,” but “we believe in ourselves, we believe in our military and we believe in our allies.”
