During Diwali festivities in the national capital, two people died and a third was seriously injured in a shootout in Farsh Bazar area of ​​Shahdara around 8:30 pm on Thursday, police said.

Among the two dead are a 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew. The first’s son, aged 10, was injured. The double murder caused panic in the neighborhood. Police suspect a personal rivalry behind this tragic incident.

The Delhi Police received a call from the PCR around 8:30 pm reporting firing in the Farsh Bazar police station area, after which the SHO and police personnel rushed to the spot. According to eyewitnesses, heavy gunfire took place amid the sound of firecrackers.

According to CCTV footage, the incident took place when Akash and his family were celebrating Diwali and lit firecrackers outside their house. The two attackers arrived on site, one of them traveling on a scooter. The one who was on the scooter came down briefly and touched Akash’s feet. Then the person standing next to him pulled out a gun and burst into the house, killing Akash in the doorway. One of the bullets also hit his son Krish, who was inside the house.

According to witnesses, when the attacker came out of the house, Akash’s nephew Rishabh tried to stop them from running into the street. However, he was shot dead during the chase.

Police suspect that this incident took place due to personal enmity. They arrested one of the accused in this case, who is a minor. According to the police, the accused is well known to the family of the deceased. However, the motive for this murder has not yet been clarified.
