The BBC is looking for a new football pundit and has launched an innovative reality show to find one, just days after Gary Lineker announced his departure from Match of the Day.

The series will follow the competitors as they battle for top spot in the run-up to the Euro 2025 women’s tournament, with Radio 1 also set to cover the event.

The winner will have the opportunity to create digital content for BBC Sports and reporting across various platforms including television, radio and social media, with appearances on shows including Football Focus and BBC Radio 5 live.

As part of a revolutionary collaboration, BBC Creator Lab has partnered with TikTok looking for the UK’s most talented football content creators.

The initiative will not only showcase the work of participants, but also provide them with essential training.

BBCFiona Campbell, Youth Audience Manager at , expressed her excitement: “This is our biggest creative opportunity yet.

“A chance to work with the BBC‘s best sporting team, appears in some of the country’s biggest football shows, as well as on Radio 1 and in a digital series.

“We can’t wait to discover and collaborate with the UK’s most exciting football creators,” reports the mirror.

Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport encourages budding talents: “There can be no better job than working with BBCSo if you think you know the game better than anyone, apply. It could change your life.

This follows the revelation that Gary Lineker will step down as host of Match of the Day after this season, the show has opened applications for a new presenter.

Despite his departure from the iconic role, Lineker will continue to work with the broadcaster until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

There is talk of a new look for Match of the Day, with Kay-Jelski reportedly considering Roman Kemp for a “digital role” in a bid to attract a younger demographic.

Rumors are rife as to who will replace Lineker, with Mark Chapman emerging as a serious contender for the prestigious presenting gig.

This comes while BBC is preparing for a new agreement with the Premier Leaguewhich would allow them to broadcast match highlights earlier than their usual 10:30 p.m. slot.

“It was an absolute joy and privilege to present such an iconic show for the BBCbut everything must come to an end,” Lineker reflected on The Rest Is Football podcast.

“It came at a time when really the BBC and Match Of The Day, they have the rights for another three years, the cycle starts from next season so I felt like if I did just one more year it would be a bit weird.

The veteran presenter, 63, also said: “I ended my football career when I felt it was the right time. I think now is the right time. I think next deal they’re looking at doing Match Of The Day slightly differently, so I think it makes sense for someone else to take the helm.
