Lookalike contests have become a fun trend, with fans around the world dressing up as celebrities like Timothee Chalamet, Harry Styles, Zendaya, Dev Patel and Tom Holland, among others. NOW, Glen Powell is the latest star to hold a lookalike contest. The event, held in his hometown of Austin, Texas, featured people competing to see who could look the most like the Top Gun: Maverick star. Hundreds of people gathered at Shores Auditorium in Town Lake Park on Sunday, Nov. 24, for the competition, according to Fox 7. Powell’s mother and aunt were at the event to choose the winner from a field of contestants .

The lookalikes included Powell-inspired characters from his roles in Hit Man and Twisters, as well as a Torchy’s Tacos Red Devil mascot and even a dog that resembled Powell’s rescue dog, Brisket. Although Powell was unable to attend the event in person, he made sure to make it memorable. The 36-year-old actor recorded a video message for the organizers and promised a unique prize to the winner.

In his video, Powell joked that the contest was actually for lookalikes of actor Justin Hartley and teased that a heist was planned.

“And we don’t need masks because we all have the same face: it’s the perfect crime.” They can’t catch us all because we’re all one: one of Glen’s criminal enterprises. Also, I know it’s November, but if no one is shirtless for no reason, then this whole thing is a sham and obviously no one is engaged in this,” he said.

Powell added: “Anyway, I wish I was there. I’m shooting abroad, right? Look left, look right. I could be anywhere. » Then he revealed the special prize for the winner: “I know there’s money and a hat at stake here, but I just wanted to say that the winner of today’s competition will receive some of my share a personal price. Now you may know that my parents make an appearance in every movie I make, but today the winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest wins their parents or any family member of their choice a appearance in my next film. I’m completely serious. This is a prize with a cash value of $6 billion.”

“Take a picture together for me, enjoy my favorite city in the world, keep Austin weird, hang ’em at Horns and see you soon, every time I look in the mirror,” the Anybody But You actor concluded.

The winner of the event was Max Braunstein, who took home a cowboy hat, free Torchy’s queso for a year, a cash prize and the promised cameo in Powell’s next film.
