Rachael Ray has the recipe for success when it comes to maintaining a long and loving marriage.

The old Food Network Star revealed some unconventional tips and tricks that help her maintain a strong relationship with her husband of 19 years, musician and lawyer John Cusimano.

“I’m extremely lucky to have my husband,” Ray said in the first episode of her new podcast, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.”

“But he understands that I need my space. He needs his space.”

Part of this space may be because the couple is facing difficult situations head-on and they don’t believe in avoiding conflict.

“It’s very difficult, especially for people who are angry or creative or loud, to be able to just calm down,” Ray told his guest, Jenny Mollen.

“John and I never calm down. We have huge screams all the time, but I think it’s healthy. I really do. And I don’t trust people who are too quiet.

Ray and Cusimano also have a unique way of making up after an argument.

In 2022, Ray told People magazine that their relationship worked because they “balance each other” and “always have.”

“John and I didn’t meet until later in life and we didn’t get married until almost 40 years old. We knew who we were. We have always been like this, for 20 years. We don’t take it too seriously when a person just needs to vent or explode.

“We’re also very good at being quiet with each other. We don’t want there to be constant chatter. And we’re very good at giving each other space to work on our passions.”

Rachael and John met through a mutual friend in 2001, and his work changed when he became more serious about being a TV personality.

“I was practicing in New York as an entertainment lawyer, primarily in film,” he said in an interview shared on the website. “Rachael Ray Show” website. “Then I met this one (Ray), and now I only have one client, and her name is Rachael Ray. So I work on our businesses all the time.”

She acknowledged that her legal mind has benefited her busy lifestyle, both on camera and behind the scenes.
