Guardiola said ‘yes’ in principle to new 12-month contract — with the possibility of extending it until summer 2027.

The Catalan’s new deal is expected to include no release clause if City are found guilty of all 115 charges brought by Prem over alleged breaches of financial rules and are therefore relegated.

The Norwegian striker – who already has 105 goals for City – has been linked with Barcelona.

Haaland, 24, joined the team in 2022 and has two-and-a-half years remaining on a contract worth £375,000-a-week before bonuses. His weekly wages mean he will bank more than £20million per season.

Any extension would see Haaland stay at City for another four or five years – which would see him pocket around £100m without even factoring in bonuses.

Guardiola and Etihad chiefs would love for him to commit his long-term future to them.

And speaking in service with Norway Last week, Haaland said: “I hope Pep signs a new contract. It was important to me during the first two and a half years.

“I hope he stays longer. I really like Pep and I hope he likes me too.

What will happen to Man City?

MAN CITY are favorites to win the Premier League title once again – but there is an elephant in the room that threatens to send the Etihad giants off track.

Solar sports MARTIN LIPTON discusses what the next few months could hold for us with the sports manager SHAUN CUSTIS….

Custis: So the big question: will there be a resolution this season?

Lipton: Yes…. probably! We know that the file will begin to be processed in October or November.

It will take at least a month to review the evidence. So I think around March or April we will get a result. But this is where it starts to get tricky.

Custis: Why then?

Lipton: If the result goes in City’s favor, that’s the end of the matter. They will be deleted. They will not face any punishment.

But if City are found guilty, it will be the heaviest sanctions ever imposed by the Premier League.

I suspect if they are found guilty they will be kicked out of the league or given a huge points deduction and huge fine so they won’t be in the Premier League next season.
