CHIANG RAI: ​​Thailand’s northernmost province officially launched its tourist campaign aimed to attract local and foreign tourists following the recent flood disaster – and keep coming until the Songkran festival next year.

The campaign – dubbed “Chiang Rai Prom Tiew” (Chiang Rai Ready for Visits) – features an attractive six-month line-up of festivals and events with the aim of boosting the province’s economy, boosting its tourism and trade and restore visitor attraction. trust.

Some of the campaign highlights include the upcoming Loy Krathong and Yi Peng festivals, Lanna Winter Wonderland, the annual Flower Festival (to be held at Haad Nakhon Chiang Rai Park from December 21 to February 16, 2025), Music in The Park , a food festival, music festival and New Year countdown, meritorious New Year events and Songkran festival in April next year.

Chiang Rai Mayor Wanchai Jongsutthanamanee said the situation in Chiang Rai had returned to normal after last month’s deluge and post-flood rehabilitation.

“I would like to thank all stakeholders, both the public and private sectors as well as local people and those from neighboring provinces, for helping to restore Chiang Rai to its pre-flood condition,” said Mr Wanchai .

Chotinarin Kerdsom, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of the Interior and acting provincial governor of Chiang Rai, who presided over the launch of the campaign, said the number of tourists at many attractions in Chiang Rai had started to increase recently, notably at Walking Street which is held every Saturday in the city center.
