Relief for millions as power restored to 7 key northern states after weeks of darkness

The transport company Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of bulk electricity supply to parts of northern Nigeria, ending a prolonged power outage.

According to TCN, power was restored via the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir Transmission Line I at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30.

This information was disclosed in a statement by Ndidi Mbah, TCN Director General of Public Affairs, to Abuja THURSDAY.

TCN reconnects seven states

The company said electricity supply had resumed in NasarawaBenue, Plateau, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi and Gombe after completing repairs to the damaged section of the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line.

Mbah added that with this restoration, the 2 Apir-Lafia 330 kV transmission line is now active, once again enabling bulk electricity transmission to these areas.

Mbah said:

“As restoration efforts continue, TCN’s engineering team is preparing to begin work on the second 330 kV transmission line. All the equipment needed for repairs is on hand.

“Work will begin as soon as the site is secured to ensure the safety of TCN personnel in the affected sections of the vandalized 330kV Transmission Line II.”

She further mentioned that in the meantime, teams of linesmen will carry out additional patrols on 330 kV Line II to check that no other sections are affected during the repair work.

TCN expressed its gratitude to those affected for their patience and understanding while its engineers worked tirelessly to restore the 330 kV Transmission Line II.

The company also recognized the vital role electricity plays in the daily lives of Nigerians and stressed its commitment to quickly complete repairs to boost mass electricity supply to the incident-affected areas.
