Walmart employee found ‘burned to death’ by her mother in store’s walk-in oven | World News

It was reportedly discovered by the mother of a Walmart employee who was “burned to death” in a Canadian store’s walk-in oven.

Gursimran Kaur, 19, was found dead at a branch in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 19.

A GoFundMe appeal to support her family stated that Ms. Kaur’s mother, who works at the store, tried to find her after she could not reach her by phone.

He said other staff assumed she was helping a customer, but found her mother’s “charred remains” in the oven a few hours later.

“Imagine his mother’s horror when she opened the oven,” read a fundraising page organized by a local Sikh community.

Halifax Police confirmed that a 19-year-old boy was found “in a large walk-in oven belonging to the bakery section of the store.”

Describing it as a complex investigation, it added: “It is important to note that the investigation has not yet reached the point where the cause and manner of death have been confirmed.”

More than C$192,000 (£106,000) has been raised so far for the family; this figure is well above the target of CAD 50,000.

The GoFundMe page described Ms. Kaur as a “young and beautiful girl who arrived.” Canada with big dreams”.

It was stated that the money would help his father and brother travel from India and the remainder would “directly benefit the grieving family”.

The store was closed following the death, and a Walmart spokesperson said: “We are heartbroken and our deepest thoughts are with our colleagues and their families.

“Our focus remains on caring for our employees and ensuring they get the support they need.”
