‘I’m 23, earns £31,000 and lives in London – but pub prices might force me to move’

After a late night I woke up with a hangover, but was cured by a roast dinner at the pub with my boyfriend and his family. My boyfriend paid so it was free!

I had to fly back to London before work on Monday, so an extra Trainline charge of £13.20 and TfL charge of £2.80 to get me back to my flat.

Another day working from home means low spending, which is always necessary and appreciated when a simple trip to a pub after work in London can cost you £20.

I did my weekly shopping at Aldi, which cost £17.43. I almost always cook my own dinners and take the leftovers for lunch to save money.

After running a half marathon a few months ago, I’m trying to stay on top of my running, so I went out for a jog on my lunch break – and had soup at M&S on the way back for 2 £.90.

Total: £20.33

To get to the office you had to pay TfL £6.80, and I went for a coffee with my work friends. My boyfriend is on Three mobile and gets a voucher for Café Nero every week – he doesn’t drink coffee so he gives it to me, meaning today’s drink only cost me £1.

After work, I went swimming at the gym with one of my roommates. We both joined our local gym after liking the fact that there was access to an indoor and outdoor pool – although the outdoor pool is now closed for the winter. The gym membership is removed from my account at the beginning of the month, so I treat each use as essentially free.

On the way back from the gym, I stopped by Aldi for a snack. I bought strawberries, bananas and yogurt for £3.72 before heading home to watch The Great British Bake Off.

Total: £11.52

Another day working in the office means an extra TfL charge of £6.80. I hate complaining when I think about the time and money it took to travel from the family home and how much I didn’t like it.

I bought tickets to a Jorja Smith concert next year for me and my roommate. I spent £102.90, but my flatmate should refund me any day, so it was £51.45 just for mine.

Lunch was leftover from last night, and after work I met up with a friend from college who I hadn’t seen in a while, and we caught up over drinks. I bought him drinks as gifts to celebrate his graduation and new job.

Two rounds of drinks cost me £29.90, then I went home where I microwaved some leftovers for dinner.

Total: £88.15
Weekly spend: £257.54
