Lansing schools prepare for third phase of $17 million facilities upgrade project

The Lansing Central School District (LCSD) is expected to begin the third phase of its $17 million capital improvement project next spring, aimed at making critical improvements to school facilities.

School officials shared updates on the project, approved by voters in early 2023, during an Oct. 28 board meeting, noting that the district is now seeking bids from contractors following recent approval from the New York State Department of Education.

The third phase will focus on improvements to Lansing High School, including courtyard renovations, a new sound system for RC Buckley Elementary School and upgrades to the middle school gates. Bids are due Dec. 5 and construction is expected to begin in early spring.

The BOBCAT project, initially proposed at $23 million, is being carried out in three phases, focused on modernizing infrastructure, security and sports facilities.
