A plane full of Detroit Lions fans riots as a flight attendant nearly ruins a critical moment in the Texans’ victory

The Detroit Lions are 8-1 for the first time since 1954.

But their victory against the Houston Texans Sunday was not easy.

On the road, the Lions trailed 23-7 at halftime after Jared Goff threw three interceptions in the first two quarters – and he threw two more picks in the third.

But Detroit scored 16 straight points and tied it with five minutes remaining when Jake Bates kicked a 58-yard field goal.

He then completed Detroit’s stunning comeback by completing a 52-yard kick to make it 26-23 as the clock wound down to zero.

Lions fans in the stadium – and in living rooms around the world – went crazy as the final kick went just inside the posts.

Just like a group of fans in the sky.

A video surfaced on social media of a plane full of Lions fans en route to Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

As the plane prepares to descend, a number of passengers can be seen watching the last four seconds of the match from their seats.

However, Bates’ winning kick is almost ruined by an announcement from a flight attendant.

Some passengers groan as the announcement plays on the screen, before the attendant realizes what is happening and stops speaking.

The passengers then let out cheers and applause as Bates sent the ball through the posts.

After the video was shared online, it was published on X by the NFLwith the caption: “I must smell the flight attendant in here.”

The story of the Detroit kicker, a Houston-area native who grew up playing football, caught the attention of NFL fans following his impressive efforts.

Bates played college football at Central Arkansas, then became a kickoff specialist at Texas State.

He never attempted a field goal in college, but was invited to the Texans’ training camp last year.

After finally being fired, Bates took a job selling bricks.

In December 2023, he tried out for the United Football League, signing with the Michigan Panthers.

There he gained a reputation for having a big leg by successfully completing several kicks over 60 yards. After the UFL season, he signed with Detroit.

Bates went from being a brick salesman to winning the game against the Texans on Sunday, bringing his story full circle in dramatic fashion.
