Sonali Kulkarni on her career: ‘I’m not the star everyone remembers, but there are directors and writers who write roles for me’: Bollywood News

The talented Sonali Kulkarni, who celebrated her 50th birthday last week, is proud of what she has achieved. “Any actor would love to be in my place. I had three consecutive triplet discharges last month. Manwat Murders, Sitara and Jo Tera Hai Wo Mera Hai. At this point in my life, there are roles written for me. There are producers who want to pay me, directors who want to recruit me. What else can I ask for? I don’t want to change anything. But I don’t think just acting defines my life because I’m a daughter, I’m a wife, I’m a mother, I’m a friend. I am a neighbor. I am a conscious citizen. Beyond that, I’m a writer. My second book has just hit the market. I love cooking. I love being a housewife. I am a nature lover. I have some social concerns. That said, my identity lies in my professional identity. So yes, I contradict myself when I say yes and no. But it does, it has its own advantages and limitations. But nothing to complain about,” she said.

Sonali Kulkarni on her career: ‘I’m not the star everyone remembers, but there are directors and writers who write roles for me’

Sonali has acted in Marathi, Hindi and South Indian films. “I always thought Marathi was my mother tongue, I would be more comfortable in Marathi, which I am. But I’ve worked in so many languages and I’ve realized that there is something I’m trying to express that is beyond languages. This expression has no language barrier. And if the director, the actor, the co-stars and the cinematographer listen to you, if they know how to capture the emotion, then the language you work in doesn’t matter “, she said.

Sonali added, “There was a time when I was working on my Italian film, my director had changed only two lines on the day of shooting. And I was so frustrated. I listened to the phrase by heart and just felt why the hell I am doing this work exercise in different languages, which I don’t understand at all. I don’t understand their grammar. I don’t understand a single word. I mean, sure, I could converse, you know, about main things. But beyond that, it was very difficult if there was a poetic line. But once I was done venting, in my mind or, you know, when I was able to get my breathing back to normal and I went on stage, and the scene came together really well. And when I saw the film at the Venice International Film Festival, I felt like it was all worth it. In Marathi we have a saying that all effort was made for that. I still can’t forget some of the applause I received or some of the compliments I received. And then we feel that it’s all worth it.

Like all true artists, Sonali is not satisfied with what she has achieved so far. “I feel like I always feel like I deserve better. But when I say that, it’s always about the glamour. Because maybe I’m not the star that everyone will remember me as. But there are directors and screenwriters who write roles for me. Like I said, the producers are happy that I’m working on their project. I believe in myself. And I feel like everything I have, I deserve. And that’s why I received it. I enjoy running more than running,” she said.

The actress added, “I feel like my life as an individual and my journey as an actor are parallel and complement each other, because I strongly feel that the kind of person you are is reflected in your work. And your work also adds value to your life. So it goes hand in hand. And overall, I feel like my journey so far has been absolutely rewarding. I’ve met some great people. I experienced unique, magical moments, truly warm and amazing connections. What more could I ask for? I feel very happy and I look forward to tomorrow and the years to come.

Sonali added, “Dr. Mohan Agashe had mentioned him one day, I had called him to wish him happy birthday. And he said, “Why do you feel so happy about my birthday?” It is a day when child and mother, no matter how old the child and mother are, but they must cherish this day. He asked, “Why does the rest of the world celebrate my birthday?” » Since then, Dr. Agashe’s words have remained engraved in my memory.

“Girish Karnad Uncle turned out to be my mentor in the film industry and I am so happy and proud that he was my very first director in Cheluvi,” she said. “He guided me throughout the film. And if he had been another person, I would have felt that mujhe break mil gaya hai aur maine Bollywood mein input kiya hai. But this film went in Cannes. This film won the national award for the best environmental film. And I could meet Mr. President. It left a different impression in my mind and my career took a very good turn. form, choosing roles and listening carefully to stories have always remained the most important thing or agenda when choosing a new job.

Daayra is this writer’s favorite. “Daayra became one of the best films on Time Magazine’s list that year. I started winning international awards. And then there are so many, Mission KashmirOf course, Dil Chahta Hai. Then my Italian film Fuoco Su Di Mewhich was presented at the Venice International Film Festival. I have to be with Omar Sharif sir because of this film. I won the Best Actress award at the Venezuela Film Festival. I feel quite enriched and as I told you earlier, my journey so far has been fabulous. So if I had changed any of these things I would probably miss one of the turns and junctions. There is a book called The Road Less Traveled. This is how my journey was,” she concluded.
