The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra, opened to mixed reviews and a modest performance at the box office. According to Sacnilk.com, the film earned ₹1.15 crore on its first day, with an overall occupancy rate of 16.74 percent. Despite the low numbers, the film managed to surpass Vikrant Massey’s hit 12th Fail, which opened to ₹1.1 crore.

The key question now is whether the Sabarmati report will gain momentum through word of mouth, like the 12th failure. Facing stiff competition from Hollywood’s Gladiator 2 and Suriya Kanguva’s much-awaited action drama, the next few days will determine the fate of this Ekta Kapoor production.

A review by News18 Showsha highlights the film’s strong points, especially Vikrant Massey’s performance: “The first half of the film centers on the Godhra incident and shows a media house helping to cover up the facts. Massey owns the first half with her powerful acting and Dogra nails her performance as a renowned news anchor. In her words, she has a new “respect” for journalists. Raashii Khanna steps in as a junior and is given the task of writing a 5th anniversary report on the Sabarmati Express ‘accident’. The second half of the film is anchored in the journey of discovering the reported truth. The journey to uncover the reported truth is what constitutes the second half of the film. »

The review further adds, “Khanna and Massey together carry the film on their shoulders and take it to another level where it gains momentum, keeping you in suspense; the dialogues will surely receive applause and a few whistles. Along with the powerful dialogues, the film strikes a patriotic chord with the music and background score. As much as the film highlights the truth reported in the Sabarmati report, it counterbalances the fact that it speaks of fraternity between the communities of our country. »

At the trailer launch, Vikrant Massey spoke about the challenges of being associated with the film, sharing: “I have received threats. Without drawing attention to it, it is something that I deal with and we as a team deal with collectively,” as reported by PTI.

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced under Balaji Motion Pictures by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan, The Sabarmati Report has laid its foundation and now awaits the audience’s verdict.
