Improving reliability of universities, says CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday asked the newly appointed vice-chancellors (VCs) of all universities in the state to improve the reliability of universities, which have been losing their reputation for some time now.

He gave these instructions when the VCs along with Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof Balakrishna Reddy met him here. Giving instructions to the vice-chancellors in the meeting, he asked them to work hard to build confidence in universities.

“Universities have been losing their reputation for some time now. There is a need to improve the reliability of universities,” he said, asking them to conduct an in-depth study on the current state of universities and take measures accordingly as systems were collapsing in universities .

“Hire consultants, if necessary, and prepare a report on the functioning of the universities. New VCs were appointed without any influence. The venture capital firms were selected purely on the basis of merit and social equations,” he said, advising them to try hard and bring laurels to the state government.

Revanth Reddy made it clear that the state government would not hesitate to take strict action if any problem arises. “Venture capital firms have been given the freedom to do good work and the government will always support those who do great work,” he said.

Stating that universities should be 100 percent revamped, he said students remembered venture capital funds for years in the past and the situation was not the same today. He asked them to pay special attention to drug and ganja trafficking in universities, monitor students and provide them with counseling.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy is also present.
