Brian’s Branch of the Detroit Lions Fined After Green Bay Packers Game

Detroit Lions Safety Brian Branch was fined for an aggressive helmet-to-helmet hit on a Green Bay Packers wide receiver in Week 9.

This was the second time this season where Fork received money for actions deemed inappropriate on the playing field.

The former second-round pick delivered what ended up being called a late hit. Packers wideout Bo Melton midway through the second quarter at Lambeau Field.

Fork received $10,128 for the hit and an additional $10,128 for inappropriate conduct after being ejected.

After being informed that he was no longer eligible to play in Week 9, Fork lost his temper and flipped the bird.

NFL senior vice president of officiating Perry Fewell told designated pool reporter Rob Demovsky after the Packers game that the decision was made to eject Branch, after the hit has been reviewed by league officials in New York.

“We looked at all angles and clearly felt he had the time and space to make a different choice because this act was an egregious mistake,” Fewell said. “And he clearly had the opportunity to avoid the head and neck area.”

This week, the talented defensive back apologized and vowed to never behave that way again.

Fork said: “I apologize to anyone who saw this, and it will not happen again.”

Following Detroit’s Week 3 win over the Cardinals, the 23-year-old was fined a total of $20,256 for two separate infractions.
