Missing Harper man’s truck found in rural Barber County

BARBER COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) – The Barber County Sheriff’s Office confirms items of interest were found during the search for David Reese.

The 73-year-old has been missing in Harper, Kansas since August 2, 2024. Friends believe he and his dog went for a drive in the country, but Reese never returned home.

In October, Reese’s dog found in rural area near Hardtnera community in Barber County near the Kansas-Oklahoma border.

On Sunday, officers located Reese’s truck near the previously searched area, which was considered very isolated.

The sheriff’s office said dispatchers were notified that a white Chevrolet pickup truck had been found in a creek bed in rural Barber County, near Little Mule and Hardtner Shortcut.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the vehicle belonged to Reese. The Great Plains Search and Rescue K9 (GPSK9) was called to help search the area Monday morning.

The sheriff’s officer said Monday evening that there would be no more searches. More details are expected to be released later this week.
