Two Brooklyn residents arrested on weapons charges after pursuit in Tarrytown

Two Brooklyn residents were arrested Nov. 6 after a high-speed chase on Interstate 87 led police to discover illegal guns, a stolen license plate and false documents. The incident began around 7:35 p.m. when State Police Troopers from the Tarrytown Barracks observed a 2021 Nissan Sentra traveling northbound near Exit 7 in the Village of Ardsley, allegedly in violation of several highway codes.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, identified as Selena Lasco, 26, allegedly refused to comply, leading officers on a chase that lasted several kilometers before being interrupted. The vehicle was located a short time later on Route 59 in Nyack by Orangetown police. Lasco and his passenger, Javed Duncan, 23, were later arrested. Duncan reportedly tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

During their investigation, officers discovered two illegal firearms, a stolen license plate and a counterfeit instrument. Lasco and Duncan now face a series of charges related to weapons possession, forgery and resisting arrest.

Lasco fees include:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree
  • Possession of a Counterfeit Instrument 2nd Degree (Offense D)
  • Criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree (C crime)
  • Illegal Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree
  • Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Government Administration 2nd Degree
  • Multiple traffic and vehicle violations

Duncan faces similar charges, with additional counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (D Felony), False Identity, and Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
