Iran ships two satellites to Russia to launch atop a Russian carrier rocket — media – Science and Space

DUBAI, November 2. /TASS/. Iran has shipped two privately developed satellites to Russia for launch atop a Russian Soyuz-2.1b rocket, according to the news agency. Tasnim reported Saturday.

The Kowsar and Hodhod satellites developed by the Iranian company Space Omid are scheduled to be launched on November 5 from Russian territory. This launch will represent the first attempt to launch Iranian satellites built by young engineers from the private company whose average age is 25 years old, he said.

The Kowsar satellite is intended for remote sensing and satellite imaging of the Earth. The Hodhod satellite is a telecommunications spacecraft designed to improve the quality of data transmission in Iran after its launch.

Russian space company Roscosmos reported earlier Saturday that a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with two Ionosfera-M heliogeophysical spacecraft and 53 small satellites as hosted payloads had been installed on a launch pad at the Vostochny spaceport in Russia. Russian Far East and takeoff was scheduled for 2:18 a.m. Moscow time on November 5.
