BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized longtime U.S. Army volunteer Rich Carle with an award this month Spotlight on VCOPs.

After serving 20 years in the United States Army and an additional 20 years in the private sector, Rich Carle decided to retire by giving back to the community as a volunteer for the Palm Bay Police Department.

He is proud to have been a volunteer citizen patrol officer for the past two years.

Rich and his wife, Ingrid, have lived in Palm Bay for 13 years and are active members of their church. He learned about the VCOP program from a fellow church member who also volunteers. You can find him on the golf course or traveling to visit family and friends when he is not volunteering with the PBPD.

As VCOP, Rich is part of the patrol division. Responsibilities include neighborhood and business safety checks, VIN checks, transportation of found property, and assisting with traffic control during accidents and parades.

He approaches each task with a positive attitude and considers himself fortunate to work alongside exceptional patrol partners.
