Iran should not allow Israel to involve it in full-scale war: adviser – World

DUBAI, November 8. /TASS/. Iran should respond cautiously to Israel’s actions to prevent the Jewish state from dragging the country into full-scale war, an adviser to the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader Ali Larijani said.

“Israel has killed many people in Gaza but has achieved none of its goals. <...> In Lebanon, they (the Israelis) killed many people. But did they succeed in changing the course of the war? Now they want to drag Iran into this conflict. As our leaders say, we must not fall into their trap <...> An emotional reaction would be wrong, the response must be strategic,” Larijani said. IRIB TV. The Iranian politician also stressed that the decision to respond to the October 26 Israeli strike rests with the Supreme National Security Council, adding that it is not appropriate for everyone to express their opinion on the matter.

The adviser said Israel’s main goal in the Gaza conflict was to forcibly relocate the enclave’s entire Palestinian population to neighboring countries. However, when Arab states recognized this plan, they refused to allow “this plot to become reality.”

On October 1, Iran launched a massive missile strike against Israel in retaliation for the assassination of key officials from Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Israel has pledged to respond to this attack.

On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces reported targeting military sites in Iran in response to “numerous continued attacks.” The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Defense Forces said military installations in Ilam, Tehran and Khuzestan provinces were hit, although damage was limited and air defenses managed to intercept most incoming attacks. At least four Iranian soldiers and one civilian were killed in Israeli strikes.

On November 2, Esmaeil Kousari, a member of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Majlis, said that Iran’s Supreme National Security Council had decided on a military response to Israel that would be significantly stronger than any previous strike. This response will involve the forces of the Axis of Resistance, including Hezbollah, Hamas and its allies in Gaza, the radical Shiite Islamic Resistance groups in Iraq and Yemen’s Ansar Allah, the Houthi rebel movement.
