Catholic bishops criticize Ruto government for rising corruption, kidnappings: ‘culture of lies’

Nairobi – The Kenya Catholic Bishops’ Conference (KCCB) strongly criticized President William Ruto KenyaKwanza administration.

In their state of the nation address on Thursday, November 14, the Catholic bishops accused the government of developing a culture of deception.

Mgr Dominic Kimengich of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret decried that the truth no longer exists under the Kenya Kwanza administration

“A culture of lies (in government) is quickly replacing the integrity and respect that Kenyans deserve. Fundamentally, it seems that the truth does not exist, and it does; it is only what the government says. Kenyans have helplessly tolerated the lies constantly told to them by politicians. Kenyans must learn not to applaud or validate the lies that politicians tell them, but must instead resolve to seek out and be guided by them. there truth,” Kimengich said.

The bishops have criticized the government for its taxes and human rights violations, including kidnappings and killings of women.

Maurice Muhatia KCCB Chairman Maurice Muhatia said the increasing cases of kidnapping and femicide were worrying.

“We are appalled by the blatant and recurring incidents of kidnappings, disappearances, torture and murders of Kenyans. We also denounce the increase in the killings of women. This has caused great dismay, anger and disgust. Who removes these people ?” » asked Muhatia.

Catholic bishops have called on the Kenya Kwanza administration to put in place measures to protect the lives of every Kenyan.

“And is the government incapable of stopping these kidnappings and murders? The government must protect the life of every human person in Kenya as stipulated in Article 26 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya. The government must take the initiative to respect the law. , which the leaders have sworn to respect and defend at all times,” he said.

The bishops further denounced the massive level of corruption under the Kenya Kwanza administration, arguing that the greed of politicians is on another level.

“Corruption does not always involve financial gain, but rather the unfair use of position and authority or the abuse of power. The massive greed we are witnessing is shocking and heartbreaking. The violation of rights of man and freedom of expression,” Muhatia said.
