OpenAI has introduced a new feature in ChatGPT that streamlines the process of searching and finding important information in previous chats on the web version.

The parent company continues to improve its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot with new capabilities, thus maintaining its competitiveness in the market. Although the GPT-4 model can browse the web, the latest feature of its web platform is a robust search tool for chat histories.

How to use the chat history search feature in ChatGPT?

Using X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI announced the new chat history search tool. Users have been asking for a solution to the problem of having to manually go through their chat history in order to find certain chats for some time.

A new magnifying glass icon has been added to the side panel of the ChatGPT Web version as user-friendly feature. Tapping this symbol will bring up a text box, allowing users to search for previous conversations using keywords. Users can also see their most recent conversations in the text box and choose one to read without having to type.

The update is now rolling out to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, according to OpenAI. Next week, the chat history search feature will be available to users in the business and education sectors. However, those using ChatGPT’s free plan will only be able to access it in November.
