Amaravati: Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma failed to appear before the police in the case registered against him for alleged derogatory social media posts against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Deputy CM.

Ram Gopal Varma has been asked to appear before the investigating officer of Maddipadu police station in Prakasam district Tuesday for questioning.


The filmmaker asked for four days to appear before the investigating office. THE High Court of Andhra Pradesh Monday denied to grant him interim measures.

The court made it clear that it could not pass an order similar to grant of bail in a quashing petition. RGV, as the filmmaker is commonly known, had requested interim orders exempting him from appearing before the investigator.

When RGV’s lawyer told the court that the petitioner was at risk of arrest, the judge said that the petitioner should file an application for bail. Regarding the petitioner’s request for additional time to appear before the police for questioning, the High Court asked him to make an application to the police.

On November 13, the police had notified the filmmaker, ordering him to appear before the investigating officer of the Maddipadu police station. On November 11, police filed a case against the filmmaker following a complaint from a local resident. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, Ramalingam.

The controversial filmmaker allegedly posted morphed pictures on ‘X’, targeting Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and Lokesh at the time of ‘Vyuham’ release.
