Liverpool eye Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement with future still uncertain

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future continues to dominate headlines, with the England international yet to commit his future to Liverpool.

Links with Real Madrid show no signs of going away and Reds fans fear losing the right-back to The Whites on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The situation is made worse for the Merseyside club’s supporters, with uncertainty also clouding the futures of skipper Virgil van Dijk and talisman Mohamed Salah, who is also out of contract next summer.

As the Anfield hierarchy consider options in case Alexander-Arnold, 26, chooses to leave, a report has emerged claiming they could make a move for PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.

It is according to Sheets.net which suggest that Liverpool would only make a move in favor of the Moroccan if Alexander-Arnold decided to end a glorious spell at the club.

However, Liverpool are unlikely to be alone in the race for Hakimi and the report says they could face competition for the right-back from Manchester City, who could see him as Kyle Walker’s successor. Real Madrid are also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, but it appears they would only make a move if they fail in their bid for Alexander-Arnold.

Hakimi himself is out of contract with the Ligue 1 club in 2026 and the Spanish publication reports that the French giants could be open to negotiations over a transfer with him only having 12 months left on his contract in the summer next.

The coming weeks and months look set to be interesting for Liverpool, with the futures of three of their biggest players to be decided as the club attempt to build on Arne Slot’s excellent start at Anfield.
