Graham Potter explains why Ruben Amorim will be ‘excited’ after Man Utd draw at Chelsea | Soccer | Sport

Graham Potter believes Ruben Amorim will be encouraged by what he has seen so far this season at Manchester Uniteddespite their torrid form.

The Red Devils dug deep to keep a point at home Chelsea this weekend in a performance which lacked energy and spark, leaving the Old Trafford team in 13th place after 10 matches played.

Erik Ten Hag has finally paid the price for his side’s lackluster opening to the campaign and Amorim is expected to replace the Dutchman later this month, although Potter believes the Sporting boss has reason to be positive about his arrival at the Theater Dreams.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw against his former Chelsea side, said Potter Premier League Productions: “It’s exciting for him. If he looks at the data it will show Man Utd I missed a lot of chances and when you’re on the right side the goals come in and it doesn’t take much to change things in a positive way.

“The rebounds must continue to compete at the top of the rankings. Premier League. They need to move away from rebounds and into small progressions.

United have scored just nine goals so far this season despite 26 big chances, and Potter believes the Red Devils are at a clinical advantage of turning around their campaign and moving back up the table.

Amorim’s style of play will play a key role in determining whether United will also be more effective in front of goal, and the former defender Gary Neville publicly begged the future boss to implement an attack-oriented system upon his arrival.

He said Aerial sports: “The number one task must be to stop this rot of players who come Manchester Unitedwho were coveted because other clubs wanted them too and who were unable to reach the level of potential they had shown before signing.
