Six years ago, as candidate for US SenateI promised to do what’s right for Nevada and not play the same old Washington games. I also promised not to toe the party line – and I’m proud to say I never did.

I am ranked among the most bipartisan, independent and effective senators in the country because I have never hesitated to put partisanship aside or advocate for special interests to defend our state. I worked with both parties to move things forward and make a real difference in the life of Nevadans.

I was able to help people like Edward, a Marine Corps veteran from Las Vegas who spent months inhaling toxic smoke from burning sites in Afghanistan. When he got home, his skin started itching uncontrollably – to the point of bleeding – but he had trouble getting help from the VA. It is unacceptable that anyone who has served our nation should be treated this way.

That’s why I worked with Democrats and Republicans to pass the PACT Act, a historic expansion of healthcare benefits for veterans suffering from toxic exposure to burners, Agent Orange, radiation and other chemicals while on duty. Now, veterans like Edward can get the care they need and deserve, with more than 28,000 Nevada veterans already filing for care.

I also stand up to giant corporations that drive up costs while raking in record profits. I called on big pharmaceutical companies to cap the price of insulin at $35 per month and finally give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug costs. I also take on price gouging from big oil CEOs who raise prices at the pump and big grocery chains who try to reduce competition at the expense of consumers.

We must make the American dream of homeownership more affordable for hard-working families. That’s why I’m fighting to lower housing costs by cracking down on private investors who buy homes and drive up costs.

It’s time to hold these bad actors accountable and provide economic relief to ordinary Nevadans trying to put a roof over their heads.

NEVADA SENATE HOPEFUL TACKLES TRANS ATHLETES, IMMIGRATION AND UFOS IN ONE DEBATE

I have made it clear that I will not hesitate to stand up to special interests or my own party to do what is right for Nevada and our country. I have repeatedly broken with Democrats to secure more funding for border security and defend police officers.

I also voted against my party to oppose federal regulations that would harm Nevada’s ranchers and ranchers, and I opposed the Biden administration’s proposal to create new taxes on our mining industry. State.

On matters of national security, I take second place to no one when it comes to my unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself. I contributed to the delivery of Iron Dome batteries, essential to defend Israel following the Hamas attack, and I broke with Democratic leaders to hold Iran accountable for its support of terrorism. I will never hesitate to denounce anti-Israel extremists, including those in my own party.

SWING STATE’S 6 KEY ELECTION VOTES Center around candidate performance in this county

I have spent the last four years on the Senate Armed Services Committee, working in a bipartisan manner to strengthen our national security and military and to address Nevada’s many defense installations.

This is my message to Nevada voters in this crucial election: I don’t work for anyone in Washington – I work for you. My opponent Sam Brown is a far-right politician who cannot say the same. While I strive to work together to achieve real results, he strives to impose an extreme partisan agenda that would hurt hard-working families.

Sam Brown has repeatedly supported banning abortion, even in cases of rape or incest, over the past decade. He would repeal our new law that capped insulin costs and allowed Medicare to negotiate drug prices — he called it “a great loss for the American people.” He also called for raising interest rates even further for hard-working families — and passed a sweeping plan that would phase out Social Security and Medicare in just five years.

Brown also opposed the toughest border security legislation in decades – even before the text of the bill was released – because he prefers to use immigration as a political football instead than support a solution. There is a crisis at our southern border, and I am fighting for common-sense, bipartisan reforms to secure the border, crack down on fentanyl, repair our broken immigration system and keep our communities safe. My opponent prefers to play political games.

Every day, I try to embody Nevada’s unwavering spirit of independence, forged by my own experience after nearly 50 years living, working and raising a family here. To continue to advance the plight of hardworking families, we need leaders willing to put politics aside to do what’s right for our state. If I am re-elected, that is exactly what I promise to continue to do in the Senate.
