Bella Bradford, an Australian influencer, died at the age of 24 from an incurable form of cancer, also known as rhabdomyosarcoma. In addition to the last video “Get Ready With Me”, in which the tiktoker announced her death, Bella Bradford had already recorded several videos in which she talked about how cancer had affected her life and the treatments she was following.

What is rhabdomyosarcoma?

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a rare form of cancer that affects the skeletal muscles. Although it mainly affects children and adolescents, it also affects adults. Each year, between 400 and 500 people in the United States are diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Wearing a backless khaki dress, white cardigan and gold necklaces, Bella Bradford said her life had “ended”.

“I have terminal cancer and unfortunately my life is now over and I have passed away,” she said at the start of the 11-minute clip.

The TikTok video was posted posthumously to Bella Bradford’s account on October 31, after she succumbed to rhabdomyosarcoma on October 15, media reports said.

Bella Bradford’s Cancer Treatment

In May, Bella shared another video GRWM (Get Ready With Me), in which she shared cancer diagnosis. She explained that at the age of 22, she was diagnosed with “a really rare form of jaw muscle cancer.”

Although she explained that her condition was “incurable”, she underwent “new treatment” including surgeries to remove the tumors, as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

After being in remission for five months, she received a new diagnosis of cancer. However, in the video she filmed at the time, she mentioned that she was receiving different forms of treatment.

Rhabdomyosarcoma and palliative care

Although chemotherapy and radiation therapy are the most common forms of cancer treatment, palliative care is an important part of rhabdomyosarcoma treatment. According to the Cleveland Clinic, hospice care focuses on improving the patient’s quality of life, from alleviating symptoms to finding mental health support groups.

Palliative care is also “designed to work with the health care team to help people with serious illness live as long as they can,” says a report from the American Cancer Society.
