Coles is introducing a trial of AI-powered smart trolleys that allow shoppers to track what they’re buying in real time and avoid the queue altogether.

The carts, which don’t look too unusual – without the child seat – are equipped with an interactive screen and sensor that displays details such as product aisle numbers, in-store promotions and calculates the total cost of a store. in real time.

Replacing the child seat with a digital screen, the trolleys also feature a built-in scale allowing customers to weigh fresh produce and a payment terminal allowing them to pay for their items and avoid the queue altogether .

The carts are also carbonated for customers with a Coles App or Flybuys card, allowing them to “spin the wheel” for exclusive savings if they spend $50 or more in a single transaction.
