Detroit Red Wings vs. New York Rangers game score: time, TV channel

THE Detroit Red Wings continue their journey through the Original Six this week – a win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday and a loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night – with a visit from the New York Rangers tonight. (The Wings are enjoying a break from their Original Six journey until they resume with two games against the Boston Bruins on November 23 and December 3; they won’t face the Montreal Canadiens until of a two-night home-and-away match at home on December 20 and 21.)

This is the third and final meeting between the Wings and Rangers this season, which is probably a good thing for the guys wearing the Winged Wheel; New York won a back-and-forth game in mid-October by a combined score of 9-3, with Artemi Panarin scoring a hat trick to back up Jonathan Quick’s 29-save performance in the final game at Little Caesars Arena.

Quick, 38, could start again for Rangers; he came in in relief of Igor Shesterkin (who allowed five goals on 12 shots received) in Thursday’s 6-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. However, we won’t have a matchup between the second and third oldest goalies; Cam Talbot, 37, started Friday night for the Wings as Alex Lyon was a late scratch. Instead, it will be Ville Husso in front of the Wings net for the first time since the season opener on October 10, when he gave up goals on 14 shots in a 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh.

After the back-to-back games, the Wings get a few days off before heading to Pittsburgh for a rematch against the Penguins on Wednesday. The Rangers, meanwhile, will host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
