Here’s how the Mahayuti and MVA manifestos compare

The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi and Mahayuti on Sunday (November 10) released their platforms for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections in 2024. Heavyweights from both alliances and even some national leaders were present when the manifestos were made public. The Mahayuti manifesto was released by Union Home Minister Amit Shah while Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge released the MVA manifesto in the presence of senior leaders of the alliance.

Both manifestos sought to bring out different sections of society in Maharashtra. Here is a comparison of the points of the two manifestos

Comparison between Mahayuti and MVA election manifestos on major issues:

Mahayuti:

The ruling alliance has promised to provide Rs 2,100 per month to women. This amounts to Rs 25,200 per year.

The Mahayuti promised to create 50 lakhpatu didi of women by 2027. He promised to make available Rs 1,000 crore in revolving funds.

MVA:

The MVA has promised Mahalakshmi a scheme under which it plans to provide financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per month.

The opposition alliance also promised free bus service for women.

Mahayuti:

The Mahayuti has promised loan waiver of up to Rs 15,000 to farmers in the state. The ruling alliance also promised a 20 per cent subsidy on the minimum support price (MSP) of farm produce. He also promised a reduction in electricity bills.

MVA:

The opposition alliance has promised to give Rs 50,000 to farmers who repay their loans on time.

Mahayuti:

A promise of an allocation of Rs 10,000 to 10 lakh students was made. Mahayuti said she would build Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Aspiration Centers in every district of the state to encourage entrepreneurship.

Mahayuti also promised to conduct a skills census in the state.

MVA:

MVA also sought to attract the youth by declaring that it would provide a stipend of Rs 4,000 to every student in the state.

Mahayuti:

The ruling alliance in the state led by Eknath Shinde said it would provide the Vivekanada Youth Health Card and facilitate annual health check-ups for the youth.

Mahayuti also said that a policy of Aadhaar-enabled services for senior citizens would be launched. There will also be outpatient consultation services (OPD) dedicated to them.

MVA:

The MVA has promised to introduce a Rs 25 lakh health insurance scheme in the state. Congress president Mallikajun Kharge said the project would be similar to the one launched by former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot in his state.

The alliance also promised to provide free medicines.

Mahayuti:

Apart from medical benefits, the Mahayuti announced that it would increase the pension paid to senior citizens from Rs 21,500 to Rs 82,100.

MVA:

MVA did not specifically address the issue of pension for the elderly.

Mahayuti:

The ruling alliance did not mention caste census in its manifesto and did not make any promises on it. However, Mahayuti said it would provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 15 lakh to people from SC, ST and OBC categories.

MVA:

MVA said that if it comes to power, it will conduct a caste census in the state and also remove the 50 per cent cap on reservations.

Mahayuti said that if he returned to power, he would introduce an anti-conversion law.

MVA:

The MVA has said nothing about the introduction of such a law.

Voting for the Maharashtra Assembly is scheduled to take place on November 20. Results are expected on November 23.
