HEIDELBURG, GAUTENG — ONE Northwest A municipal officer was arrested in Heidelberg for fraudulent activities.

Financial director arrested

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the government official, who is the financial director in Lekwa Teemane Local Municipality, North West, allegedly provided motor vehicle rental services to the mayor of the municipality without following due process from April to May 2022.

The police officer’s actions cost the municipality R167 000 and he was arrested in Heidelberg, Gauteng. He was charged with fraud and violating the Municipal Finance Management Act. He is should appear in court Soon.

Nongoma officials arrested

The city manager, supply chain manager, finance director and bodyguard were arrested.

They were accused of fraud, theft and money laundering and appeared in court court on March 25, 2024 to face the music.
