The search will resume at daylight to find a missing Bellevue man, aged 64.

BELLEVUE, Ky. (WXIX) – The search for a critically missing 64-year-old man in northern Kentucky is expected to resume at daylight Monday.

First responders will return to the Ohio River as well as a wooded area between the water and his Bellevue home, according to Mike Ward, Campbell County EMA response manager.

Mark Bertram’s search extended to a wooded area Sunday evening into Monday morning before being called off at 3 a.m. because search and rescue teams were “exhausted,” Ward said.

Bertram left his Berry Avenue home early Sunday and has not been seen since, according to Bellevue Police Chief Jon McClain.

A K-9 from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office followed Bertram’s trail from his home on Berry Avenue where he was last seen around 8:30 p.m. Saturday to Lafayette Avenue where it ended at the river , the chief told FOX19 NOW.

Boone County Water Rescue joined the search by boat Sunday evening and used underwater sonar technology to try to find him.

“We’re trying to find him before any harm can be done,” the chief said Sunday evening.

Bertram’s family noticed him missing around 2 or 3 a.m. Sunday, according to the police chief.

Around 8 or 9 a.m., a disappearance report was filed and the search was launched.

Mark left his cane, cell phone and wallet at home, the chief said.

He is described as 5’8 with white hair and walks with a noticeable limp due to a hip injury.

His family told authorities he changed his clothes before leaving the house. So they don’t know exactly what he was wearing, but he will be wearing brown moccasins, police wrote in a social media update.

Anyone seeing Mark is asked to call 911.
