Rum auction raises over £1,000 for RNLI

Refuge Manx rum has been aged in the Refuge Tower

THE very first limited edition bottle of Refuge Manx rum was auctioned off in aid of the RNLI.

Fynoderee Distillery confirmed the sale raised £1,325 for the life-saving charity, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.

The rum was created by the distillery to highlight the Manx origins of the organization.

After surviving a year at sea on Conister Rock, inside the Tower of Refuge, the rum returns to land where it is bottled, labeled and individually numbered at the distillery.

The company must donate 20 percent of every bottle sold to the RNLI.

In addition, “Bottle No. 200” will be donated to the charity for its national archives.
