The Cove at Dundee’s Blue Star Memorial Marker Celebration to recognize veterans

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless is hosting a celebration of the Blue Star Memorial Marker at Cove in Dundee.

The Blue Star program honors all men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces.

The Cove at Dundee helps reduce veteran homelessness by providing permanent, affordable tiny homes to those in need.

The homes were created by the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless with the help of private businesses and volunteers.

The Blue Star Memorial Highway program places memorial markers thousands of miles across the United States to honor the armed forces who have served our country.

CSAH Executive Director Jennifer DuLong told WTOC how a Blue Star commemorative marker is heading to Dundee Inlet.

“The Savannah Garden Club has allowed us to become a memorial community. That’s why we placed this beautiful 320-pound memorial plaque in the garden in recognition of the veterans who live in our community, but also in recognition of the incredible work of the Savannah Garden Club and others. This community was built with private dollars and investment.

The public is invited to attend the Blue Star Memorial Marker celebration on Thursday. The event starts at 10 a.m., rain or shine.
