Maeva D’Asconio on Miles Nazaire: “We ignore each other”

When Maeva D’Asconio first joined Made in Chelsea in 2019, she quickly established herself as west London’s favorite feisty French girl. Originally appearing on the show as Miles Nazaire’s ex-girlfriend, self-proclaimed “strong character” Maeva is now happily settled with husband James Taylor and their son Beau, who turns two in November.

In five years on the show, Maeva found herself at the center of a lot of Made in Chelsea’s major drama. But speaking to Grazia, Maeva explains that this often comes from being different from the rest of the cast. “I’m part of this group of people, I’m the only French one, and sometimes people don’t really understand my mentality or my way of seeing things, my way of speaking, how direct I can be,” says- She. “I can seem quite rude sometimes, but at the same time I’m very direct, because I’m very honest with things, and that’s how it is.”

Maeva says she’s always been able to assert her boundaries, but that the series “definitely helps you see things a little more differently.” “You’re a bit alone and sometimes you have to defend yourself in stupid situations. You have to stand up for yourself, because this environment can be really full of jealousy and criticism,” she says.

Series 28 began in October and years after their relationship, Maeva was dragged back into drama involving her ex Miles. Two major plot points so far have revolved around James’ brother Jack befriending Miles, and a TikTok post Miles reflected on how awesome their relationship was. Regarding Jack, Maeva explains that she is “just trying to take care of a young man who doesn’t really know what he’s doing in his life at the moment.” After all, she says, “you can be betrayed very quickly” in the circles in which they move.

Her feelings about the video, Maeva admits, are more complex. “I just feel like it’s just at this point in my life, and even in Miles’ life, we shouldn’t even be talking about something like this?” she said. “We have evolved so much since what happened between us, which was bloody almost 10 years ago.”

Without the show, Maeva says she and Miles probably wouldn’t even cross paths. “He’s a fucking idiot. He’s just a different person, living in a different world,” she says. “We never see each other, we always completely ignore each other, except when we’re in the same story. It’s (like) Why? I have a child, I’m married. Why am I talking to you?

Maeva says the video was less a case of her being personally offended (even though she found it disrespectful), and more about supporting James when he found it uncomfortable. Being a unit, Maeva says, is an integral part of her marriage. “James and I tell each other everything. We will never hide anything from each other,” she said. “We will be a team no matter what. I will support him. He will support me.

This series was filmed about three months ago, and anyway, I’m quickly moving on. At the time, it was just a little ridiculous, to be honest,” she says. Does she like seeing herself on the show again? “I used to. Not really anymore. I don’t know if it’s a physical thing. I don’t like to look at myself and see my facial expressions, like I do sometimes, and things like that And then also things that I can say, sometimes I’m like, “Why did I say. That? I criticize myself a lot, to be completely honest.

It’s intriguing what’s holding Maeva back on Made in Chelsea, but she says it’s “part of (her) life” at this point. “So it doesn’t bother me, for some reasons,” she said. “The series made me grow, really gave me lots of opportunities. I respect him, I respect the show. She may have issues with “the people on the show,” but “I have my own life,” she says. ‘It doesn’t bother me. I’m happy with that for now. Obviously I’m not going to do this forever, but now it works pretty well.
