A report from the Thoroughbred Racing Northern Territories stewards recounts how Luximon was riding Fantasy Eagle in Race 6 when, after passing the winning post, he deliberately stirred his mount with his whip.

He then turned his horse towards his rival Flying Start ridden by Lek Maloney.

The report said: “After passing the winning post, he deliberately stirred his mount using the whip and directed the gelding towards Flying Start, ridden by apprentice Lek Maloney…

“(He) veered to the right, which brought his mount close to the gelding while the rider did not anticipate any incident and took evasive action.”

This behavior was captured live on Sky TV channel.

The acts of aggression continued on the return to the unsaddle enclosure.

There, he allegedly “aggressively” used his whip and reins to provoke his horse and direct the gelding toward Flying Start.

The investigation said: “This resulted in his Fantasy Eagle mount being intentionally mounted and making violent contact with Flying Start on several occasions when this gelding and his rider were positioned against the outside running rail.

“During both incidents he loudly insulted and threatened apprentice Lek Maloney.”

The conclusion was that his actions were detrimental to the image, interests and welfare of racing and compromised the safety and welfare of jockeys and their horses.

It also potentially risked injury to other participants.

A number of eyewitnesses to this latest incident confirmed Luximon’s behavior to onlookers.

Luximon pleaded guilty to the charges against him and reportedly showed “belated remorse” during the investigation.

He was consequently banned from racing for nine months, fined £250 and ordered to seek help with anger management before reapplying for a licence.

The commissioners determined that the sanction “must serve as a general and specific deterrent.”

Luximon has ridden 72 winners since arriving in Australia five years ago.

He is originally from Mauritius.
