Mike Tyson revealed a day after losing to Jake Paul in what could be his final boxing match, that he “almost died” in June 2024 and underwent multiple blood transfusions to recover.

The result was a weight loss of 11 kg, while she was on the verge of death, and had to undergo multiple blood transfusions.

The former heavyweight titleholder, 58, took X on Saturday, November 16 to talk about his health problems.

“This is one of those situations where you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote.

“I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about getting in the ring one last time.”

“I almost died in June. I had 8 blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy again, so I won “, he continued.

“Seeing my kids see me face to face and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy Stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. Thank you .”

Tyson, who had not fought in an official match for 19 years before the last fight, entered the ring wearing a knee brace.

Life-threatening ulcer

Tyson’s post referenced a life-threatening ulcer that seriously affected his health.

He was forced to postpone his initial fight with Paul, originally scheduled for July 2024.

The “Baddest Man on the Planet” recounted his ordeal in the Netflix documentary, “Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson,” released before the November 15 match.

“I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?'” Tyson recalled on the show.

“And she didn’t say no. She said we had options, though. That’s when I got nervous.”

Jake Paul slowed down

In the match against Paul, 27, the former YouTube star at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which was streamed live on Netflix, Tyson appeared a shadow of his former self.

Paul, to his credit, said in a post-fight interview, he softened up Tyson in the third round.

“Yeah, definitely,” Paul replied when asked by a reporter if he took his foot off the gas when he wasn’t even halfway through the eight-round fight.

Paul responded, noting that Tyson wasn’t on the attack at any point: “Definitely a little bit. I wanted to give a show for the fans, but I didn’t want to hurt someone who didn’t need the show. ‘be.”

In the seventh and eighth rounds, Paul could have pressed harder to get a knockout, but he chose not to.

He explained that this was to avoid creating a lasting negative image of a boxing champion he respected.

“I tried to give the best fight I could,” Paul said.

“When someone is just surviving in the ring, it’s hard to make that exciting.”
