Fresh off his feud with Drake, it appears Kendrick Lamar has made another enemy: Lil’ Wayne. Lil’ Wayne has wanted to headline the Super Bowl since time immemorial. Super Bowl musical performances are always something to look forward to. Fans who love the hip-hop genre are in for a treat as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of our generation is heading to the Super Bowl next year.

Kendrick Lamar has been handpicked for title the halftime show. Although he has already performed at the Super Bowl once, this is the first time he will be the main player at the event.

Lamar said (via BBC),

Rap music remains the most influential genre to this day. And I will be there to remind the world why. They got it right.

There’s no denying that Lamar’s stage presence and catchy tunes work together in perfect harmony to create a show people will never forget. Thus, the HUMBLE. The rapper seems like a great choice for the 2025 Super Bowl.

Although the majority appear to be on Lamar’s side, a few were unhappy with the selection and supported Lil Wayne instead.

Recently, the rapper attended the Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans and his performance was streamed live on Amazon Music. During his performance, he threw shade at the Super Bowl for neglecting him when it came to choosing a headliner.

He said (via Cinema Mix),

When the first Super Bowl happened, I made sure to buy tickets early in the season. I did the same thing when I moved to Miami, and I wish my team would be successful again… At that moment, I said to myself, “I want to be on stage at the Super Bowl one day in front of my mother. And I worked my butt off to get myself into this fucking position. It was taken from me. But this fucking moment here? They can’t take (this) man.

Needless to say, Lil’ Wayne is pretty salty about losing the gig to Lamar. His comments only fueled the anger of his fans who wanted him to be on the Super Bowl stage. However, when clips of her performance at Lil’ Weezyana Fest hit the internet, people began to question themselves.

It looks like Lil Wayne is going through a tough time. In April, he received backlash for his performance at WrestleMania XL. While he was presented as “The greatest rapper of all time” the reception couldn’t have been further from the title.

In the video uploaded to WWE YouTube channelwe can see netizens criticizing Lil Wayne. While one of them declared, “Lil Wayne felt like I was doing a parody of him while rapping.” another wrote, “The way I died laughing when he came out looking like the nerd emoji after being touted as the greatest rapper of all time.”

There was also support for Lamar in the comments section. @BenjiClips614 wrote: “Kendrick is PERFECT for live shows…he brings his music to LIFE in every way, from the band to his vocals to the performance he can pull off,” and @miltondauce4217 said: “Right here after Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl 59 performer. and now I can see why. Looks like 2024 hasn’t been too kind to Lil Wayne!
