BBC Breakfast viewers on Monday expressed their dismay as Jon Kay was notably absent from the studio, choosing to broadcast live from the US amid crucial election updates.

To kick off the show, Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson greeted the audience before quickly handing over to Jon via video call.


“Hello and welcome to Breakfast with Ben Thompson and Sally Nugent,” Sally began during the program’s opening segment.

As they wrapped up presentations, Ben took a moment to highlight Monday’s major news. Next comes Jon’s live report from Washington, saying: “Hello from Washington. We’re here this week as this extraordinary race comes to an end,” the Express reports.
