Four Mayo AIB branches to be upgraded as part of €40m program

Four Mayo AIB branches will be modernized as part of a €40 million investment program in its branch network.

AIB has launched the strategic investment program, through which the full amount will be invested by the end of 2025 in a series of branch and ATM upgrades.

This investment will reduce their operational carbon emissions by a further 10% and, combined with AIB’s certified renewable electricity from two solar farms in Wexford, will help support the company’s strategy to achieve net zero emissions. of scope one and two by 2030.

In Mayo, the Ballinrobe branch will undergo a complete refurbishment, while the Castlebar, Swinford and Westport branches will benefit from interior and exterior improvements.

AIB has the largest branch network in Ireland, serving over three million customers and employing 10,000 people nationwide.

Barry Cooley, County Mayo Regional Retail Director, said: “AIB has a long-standing commitment to the communities of Mayo, and we are proud to continue this commitment by renovating our Ballinrobe branch, with improvements made to our Castlebar, Swinford and Westport branches.

“While our customers benefit more from our digital services, they also enjoy being able to come and chat with us for financial advice and we look forward to meeting them at our newly renovated branches,” he added.

Geraldine Casey, managing director of retail banking, said: “While the vast majority of our customers manage their day-to-day finances, when and where they want, digitally, we recognize that they also value the face-to-face service provided in our branches, particularly when it comes to important financial decisions and support.

She continued: “We remain committed to these communities and look forward to making further investments in our branch network in the future. »

The 35 agencies to be gradually renovated by the end of 2025 include:

Phase one: Clifden, Dunmanway, Ennistymon, Killarney, Killorglin, Letterkenny, Millstreet, Tallaght, Tubbercurry, Tullow.

Phase two – Abbeyfeale, Athy, Ballinamore, Ballinrobe, Buncrana, Cahir, Caherciveen, Carndonagh, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Castleblayney, Castletownbere, Cobh, Dundrum town centre, Dingle, Edenderry, Kenmare, Killaloe, Killybegs, Kilmallock , Lismore , Rathdowney, Spiddal, Western Road Cork, Youghal.
