PGA Tour star Ludvig Aberg completely baffled by reporter’s question

In case you missed it earlier in the week, the PGA Tour has approved controversial proposals that will significantly change the size of fields and the number of exempt members on the North American Tour.

The policy board, consisting of Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Webb Simpson, Patrick Cantlay, Peter Malnati and Adam Scott, all voted on the changes before the final event of the FedEx Cup fall season.

The changes will be implemented from the start of the 2026 season.

In short, the top 100 FedEx Cup players retain their full status (down from 125), there will be fewer platoons for regular season events, fewer Korn Ferry Tour graduates, and in some cases, the removal altogether Monday qualifying.

This is big news and a number of players are not happy at all.

Just look at what Lucas Glover had to say about it.

Matthew Fitzpatrick, who is a relatively laid back individual, also accused the PGA Tour of not handling the pace of play issue.

But all this was new to Ludvig Aberg.

The reigning RSM Classic champion met with reporters ahead of his defense on Tuesday.

This week marks his first professional event since undergoing surgery on his right knee after the Tour Championship.

Golf Digest’s Shane Ryan asked the fit and healthy Aberg for his thoughts on the aforementioned changes.

Here is the full exchange:

Q. Ludvig, can I get your thoughts on the PGA TOUR format changes that happened yesterday?

Aberg: I didn’t know that.

Q. Really?

Aberg: No, I didn’t know. What was that?

Q. So, there are going to be smaller fields, so these are proposals which were made at the end of October and which were adopted yesterday.

Aberg: Okay.

Q. Smaller rosters, fewer Tour cards, fewer KFT Tour entries, et cetera. Is this news to you?

Aberg: This is actually news to me, I’m sorry, I didn’t know that.

Talk about living in a bubble.

It could be argued that these changes are unlikely to affect Aberg over the next few years.

In a relatively short period of time, the Swede has climbed into the top five of the Official World Golf Rankings since turning professional in mid-2023.

And one would not be forgiven for thinking that a major title could be on the cards for Aberg in 2025.

The RSM Classic begins on November 21. Aberg was given a start time for the opening round of 14:23 GMT alongside Matt McCarty and amateur star Luke Clanton.

Injury update

Aberg went under the knife a week after the Tour Championship.

This problem had been bothering him for a while, but he didn’t want to miss crucial events to have surgery.

He told reporters that he is now 100 percent healthy.

In his free time, he also bought his first house in Ponte Vedre and will live there with his girlfriend Olivia Peet for the next few years.
