NBA Power Rankings: Are the Brooklyn Nets improving?

The Brooklyn Nets are only three games into their season, but they are heading in the right direction.

After losing their first two away games, the Nets managed to win their first home game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

NBA.com writer John Schuhmann released his weekly power rankings and placed the Nets at 27th, up two spots from the previous week.

“The Nets were somewhat competitive in road losses to the Hawks and Magic, and new coach Jordi Fernandez picked up his first win against the Bucks on Sunday,” Schuhmann writes. “The Nets have a record 15 games with an advantage at rest this season, with the first of 15 coming against the Nuggets on Tuesday. But it’s also the start of their first streak of five games in seven days, with both games at a disadvantage at rest in this sequence against the Grizzlies.

The Nets’ victory was driven by a dynamic backcourt duo of Dennis Schroder and Cam Thomas, who combined for 61 points. These two will be the backbone of many of Brooklyn’s wins this season, so as long as they play well, the Nets should at least be competitive.

The Nets are back in action tonight when Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets come to town. The alert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
