Jessica Woolston signs for Yorkshire

Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) are delighted to announce the signing of new ball seamer Jessica Woolston on a two-year contract.

Woolston, 21, has played senior regional cricket for the Northern Diamonds for the past three seasons, taking a brilliant record of 5-37 in a 50-over win over the South-East Stars in Scarborough in May 2023.

Born in Stockton-on-Tees, Woolston has experience of county cricket with Yorkshire and Durham under her belt and is the latest talented recruit to sign her first professional contract.

Woolston has just graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in sports coaching and is a former student of Yorkshire Cricket College.

In 2022, Woolston made her senior debut for the Diamonds during their Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy title-winning campaign. She also helped Yorkshire reach the regional final of the County T20 Cup competition.

Woolston said: “I’m incredibly excited to start this new chapter with Yorkshire Women.

“Becoming a professional cricketer and signing for one of the biggest clubs in the country is a dream come true.

“We have a great group on the team and I can’t wait to take my game to the next level and contribute.”

“Having a year at Tier 2 gives us the opportunity to play gritty cricket, push ourselves and build that team philosophy that will help us win silverware when we become a Tier 1 team.”

Yorkshire Women’s head coach, Richard Pyrah, said: “We are excited about Jess’s potential and seeing where she can take her game over the next two years.

“Jess is part of an exciting Yorkshire Women fast bowling group, and she is surrounded by two excellent experienced seamers, Beth Langston and Rachel Slater. Alongside the entire coaching staff, they will play a key role in the development of our young seamers such as Jess.

“We believe Jess has a bright future at our club and we look forward to watching her flourish.”

Everyone at Yorkshire Cricket welcomes Jessica to the club and wishes her the best of luck with Yorkshire Women.
