Instagram is one of the most popular photo and video sharing platforms among students and young people. Many users with public accounts may not realize it, but their photos and videos can be seen in Google search results. But it could be saved, if you prioritize your privacy and want to avoid this, you can do so by making slight changes in the settings.

Privacy threatened for public accounts

Public Instagram accounts allow your shared content to be indexed on search engines like Google. This can expose personal moments to a wider audience than intended, potentially leading to misuse or fraud.

How to prevent your content from appearing in search results

Instagram has a built-in feature to control this. By following simple steps, you can ensure that your photos and videos remain private.

Steps to Disable Search Engine Visibility

  1. Open your Instagram app
  2. Log in to your account and navigate to your profile page.
  3. Access account settings
  4. Tap the three-dot menu (or hamburger icon) at the top corner of your profile screen.
  5. Go to privacy settings
  6. Select the Account Privacy option from the settings list.
  7. Turn off search engine visibility

Locate the toggle for Allow public photos and videos to appear in search engine results. Disable this option to prevent your content from being indexed by Google.

Prioritize your safety

With growing concerns about online scams and privacy breaches, this small change can protect your data. Update your settings today to keep your Instagram moments private and secure.
