Here’s how much Checkers Sixty60 drivers earn

Since its launch in late 2019, Checkers Sixty60 has become a household name.

Their brightly colored bikes (and now delivery vans) can be spotted a mile away. This has made shopping for essential goods easier and more efficient for millions of South Africans.

Knowing how quickly deliveries move from app to store, to bike, and to our doors, we became a little curious about how much these drivers actually make.

TopAuto revealed that delivery drivers who work for Sixty60 are independent contractors and not permanent employees. They are paid according to their contractual agreement.

In addition, Checkers subcontracts the delivery part of Sixty60 to Pingo and RTT Logistics.

How much Sixty60 drivers get paid

A former Sixty60 driver recently said My broadband all about their stay at Checkers in Mossel Bay.

The unnamed former employee who worked at Checkers from September 2022 to February 2024 said runners earned about R7,600 per month. During his first year on the job, the anonymous runner started his day at 8 a.m. and ended around 5 p.m.

Delivery drivers would also be asked to cover their own fuel and bike rental costs.

“Fuel costs were R3,200 per month and bike rental was R400 per week, leaving rider A with R2,800 net monthly income,” the report said.
