The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, has handed out certificates of return to the winners of Saturday’s local body elections.

KANSIEC President Prof. Sani Malumfashi presented the certificates to the 44 presidents-elect of the council.

Among the elected presidents of the council is a young woman, Sa’adatu Yushau Tudunwada. She was elected chairperson of Tudunwada LGA.

“Today’s issuance of return certificates marked the end of our mandate which we executed diligently and in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the country,” the KANSIEC president said.

Speaking to journalists, Tudunwada promised to ensure fairness for the people of his local government area, irrespective of their party affiliation.

Newly elected Fagge LGA chairman Salisu Masu has expressed concern that the council is experiencing a lack of revenue due to leakages.

He said: “I will do everything I can to block leakages and improve revenue generation because at present, from the information I am receiving, our grant from the Federal Government is not even enough to pay salaries until the state government increases the United States?
