After almost a year of waiting, Netflix anime Beastars gets a return date for its final season

The Netflix anime Beastars returns to our screens this December.

The series, which revolves around a world of anthropomorphic animals and the social divide between carnivores and herbivores, will return for the first part of its final season on Netflix starting December 5. The second (and final) part is expected to be streamed in 2025.

It’s been a long time coming for Beastars fans though. The final season has been sitting on a “2024” release window and, later, a “December” release window for months. Netflix also revealed the decision to part ways Beastars season 3 in both directions in March.

Luckily, there’s a new trailer to guide viewers through the remaining weeks. In it, series protagonist Legoshi outlines his intentions to start a family with his partner Haru, but not while he is a Beastars. Meanwhile, a new villain waits in the wings: Melon, described in the trailer as “toxicity in motion.”

“Following the confrontation with Riz, Legoshi decides to leave school and begins living alone in the Beast Apartments. Meanwhile, Louis, who declined the Young BEASTARS and graduated from the academy, decides to finally confront his father, Ogma,” The new Netflix synopsis of the last season begins.

“Haru, who is enjoying his campus life, faces an endless series of problems. At this time, the current BEASTAR Yahya pursues Melon, a violent criminal who seeks pleasure in murdering beasts. The fates of Legoshi and Melon, who should never have crossed paths, are intertwined by a secret closely guarded by Legoshi’s family.

Several new characters also join the fray in the final season of Beastars. They include the Komodo dragon Gosha, the horse Yahya, and Legoshi’s sheep neighbor Seven.

Season 3 of Beastars will therefore probably adapt the Interspecies and Revenge of the Love Failure arcs from Paru Itagaki’s manga, thus putting a definitive end to the story of Legoshi and Haru.
