Huge twists and turns and what’s real and what’s fake?

Honestly my brain hurts

Have you watched Grotesquerie? Otherwise, put it on. NOW. Ryan Murphy has barely slept this year and pretty much simultaneously released Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix back-to-back with his new series Grotesquerie, streaming in the UK on Disney Plus. This has been a mystery show that hasn’t arrived with much fanfare, despite being notable for being Travis Kelce’s acting debut. Grotesquerie never revealed much in its promos, and as each episode became more and more surreal, it felt like the show’s grip on reality was slipping away. But what is real and what is fake in Grotesquerie? Here’s a look at what we know to be real and what we know to be fake in Grotesquerie as we prepare for more chaotic twists and turns in the finale.

What has happened so far in Grotesquerie and what is it about?

Grotesquerie stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Lois, a hardened alcoholic detective who has a huge reputation for closing harrowing cases. She comes face to face with a serial killer who creates horrific religious paintings with his crimes, and as the bodies pile up, she teams up with Sister Megan, a nurse who covers the real crimes to try to spark the murder again. people’s interest in the church. Lois’s husband is in a coma, being cared for by the strange Nurse Redd – with whom Lois is in conflict. Lois’s daughter Merritt lives at home with her and argues with her mother about her weight as she prepares to audition for a weight-focused reality TV show.

Sister Megan is in love with Father Charlie, her boss played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez who also has a morbid fascination with murder. Travis Kelce plays a nurse at the hospital.

Except the show had a huge twist in episode seven that revealed Lois was in a coma the whole time, not her husband. And the whole spectacle was just an illusion. So, what happened in the last few episodes and what’s real and what’s fake in Grotesquerie?

The murders

What’s important here in what’s real is that the first brutal murder Lois encountered in the pilot episode, later revealed to be a dream, becomes reality. The real Lois after waking up is not an alcoholic and had already retired from being a cop. Sister Megan is actually the police chief and calls Lois back after she wakes up from her coma because the dreams and murder have become a reality. Poignant!

The Marshall affair

Lois suspects Marshall, her husband and Nurse Redd of having an affair in dreams. In real life, Marshall did have an affair with Nurse Redd but she wasn’t a nurse, she was a cam girl. She actually praises Redd for taking care of Marshall in the years when Lois was too disturbed to take care of him or be a good wife.

Merritt on reality TV

Merritt in real life is not an aspiring reality TV star, but an incredibly experienced cancer researcher. She’s married to Travis Kelce’s Ed Laclan, and in real life he’s not a doctor but works at Cinnabon and had an affair with Lois behind his daughter’s back. Huge drama.

Are Father Charlie and Sister Megan Connected?

In the first episode, Father Charlie and Sister Megan end up having a romantic relationship behind the church’s back, and she also helped him commit the murders. In real life, the two aren’t even related and don’t even seem to know each other.

It remains to be seen how much chaos threatens as Grotesquerie ends this week. I have no idea what to expect, but I just know that major twists and turns are still to come.

The first two episodes of Grotesquerie are now streaming on Disney Plus – and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is available on Netflix. For all the latest Netflix news, drops and memes like The Holy Church from Netflix on Facebook.
