Donald Trump Wins Nevada’s 6 Electoral Votes, Secures 6th Swing State

Donald Trump received all six of Nevada’s electoral votes on Saturday, Nov. 9, according to projects by the Associated Press.

Trump’s total now stands at 301 Electoral College votes, far exceeding the 270 required to assume the presidency. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris had 226 electoral votes at the time of the appeal.

One of two swing states left to call, the PA declared the president-elect the winner in Nevada after determining there weren’t enough votes left to count in key Democratic areas of the state to overtake Trump’s lead of 46,000 votes.

Arizona’s results are not yet available.

Trump was declared the winner of the presidential election after Wisconsin carried him across the finish line in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5.

Nevada was one of seven Swing States identified in the 2024 presidential election, alongside Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Under the Electoral College system, each of the closely divided states played an important role in choosing the presidential winner.

The Silver State has historically served as a strong indicator of which party will win the general election, even if it received fewer electoral votes than its battleground colleagues. According to BallotNevada voted for the winning candidate in 87.1% of presidential elections between 1900 and 2020.

While Democrats have consistently won Nevada in recent years, the last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state was in 2004, when George W. Bush defeated John Kerry — Many political strategists agreed that the results would be difficult to predict this time.
